Obedience Training For Dogs – Where Do I Begin…? by Steve Rankin
Obedience Training For Dogs you can do or alternatively you can pay someone else to do this for you however it’s important that you do something if you want your dog to listen to and obey your every command. Some of you out there are completely naive to dog training or just simply don’t have the time to be able to put into training their dog. If you think like this you’ll end up with a dog which will be hyper active, very boystrous and will be uncontrollable. Dealing with this issue early own in your dogs life is the best way forward.
When Is The Best Time To Start?
Should you get yourself a puppy you should start training from around three months old; If you start before this time, like a child, they may not understand wht you’re trying to do with them and this will only get frustrating for you and may cause you to get frustrated with the puppy causing anxiety in your new dog. Also bear in mind that you can start training at anytime after this no matter how old the dog is. Don’t let taking on an older dog discourage you from commencing any form of obedience training for dogs.
It’s easy to find your local dog school where they teach obedience training for dogs for a living and here is where you’ll find they have all the equipment, knowledge and usually years of dealing with all kinds of dogs and probably all issues owners in the past have seen with their dogs. Going to a Dog School is a magnificent way for both you and your dog to get out and meet with other like minded people. This will not only help You and your dog learn how to follow instructions but will also help You and your dog mix with other dog owners as you probably would in the street, which also helps them gain socialization skills.
Most Dog Obedience schools who teach obedience training for dogs usually have too many other owners and only one session, especially if your dog tends to creat for long periods of time or you just can’t perform the command properly in the time you have available and you need some extra attention. Most professional Dog Trainers will also offer a private one2one session where you can discuss your individual needs with them and decide on how to deal with your dog. If you want to get the most out of these sessions for your dog, then having one teacher to the dog is the best way. These professionals will usually offer both on an off site sessions around their core classes.
Although this is a great way to Train Your Dog these sessions can sometimes be a little costly, a couple of issues with this is that you may forget what you learnt over the week, your dog may act differently when away from the session as well as many other problems which could come up.
You could get yourself a training program which a Professional Dog Trainer has compiled. You would follow this program and then if you need to you can refer back to the material again and again however many times you need to until you sort your dogs issues out. I personally think a video tutorial is a great way to learn as we learn by watching others.
